supreme s/s 2010.

well its finally here. the announcement everyones been waiting for - the supreme spring/summer 2010 collection. not the strongest in my eyes, however I always prefer fall/winter anyway. some surprising pieces (nunchuks anyone?), some not so surprising (lee scratch perry tee has been rumored for a minute now). still, all in all some solid pieces from arguably the greatest streetwear brand in the world. and there is still collaborations with the likes of Nike and Harmony Korine to come. here's some of my personal favourite pieces from the drop:

"i was born in tulsa oklahoma in 1943. when i was sixteen i started shooting amphetamine. i shot with my friends everyday for three years and then left town but i've gone back through the years. once the needles goes in it never comes out. L.C."

picked up the reprint edition of Larry Clark's Tulsa recently. coming on forty years old, it is still as poignant and raw today. highly recommended.

all gone 2009.

i managed to bag a copy of streetwear bible All Gone direct from the All Gone site. i opted for the white/white version, limited to 300 copies. the book is itself is really good looking and Michael Dupouy & co have done a great job documenting the best and most desirable products released in 2009. highlights include the Sup x Damien Hirst decks, KAWS 4 foot Dissected Companions and the 1000% Silly Thing Daft Punk Kubricks. highly recommended if you can get a copy!

comme des garcons x moncler.

first came the CDG x Louis Vuitton store, followed by the CDG Black store and then CDG x Vogue Nippon. come March 25th, the ever changing space in Aoyama, Tokyo is going to be home to Comme des Garcons x Moncler 365. the store is set to carry a mixture of black items from both brands as well as some very special collaborative items. alongside the Moncler Visvim (Moncler V) and the Pharrell Williams range, it looks like its going to be an interesting year for Moncler collaborations. i'm hoping to be in Tokyo in April so will definitely be checking this out.

terrys diary.

everyones favourite celebrity photographer, supreme collaborator and all round awesome guy - Terry Richardson has recently started his own photo blog. updated 3 to 4 times a day, i strongly recommend checking it if you are a fan of Terry. link here.

gilbert & george.

finally managed to pick up a copy of Gilbert & George's Jack Freak Pictures published last summer. the book documents all 153 of the Jack Freak Pictures produced in 2008 - the largest single group of pictures the artists have ever created. for me they are still two of the most fascinating people in the art world today. highly recommended.

joker.

went to see joker last night. he absolutely killed it - such a sick set. can't wait for his album to drop later this year, as well as big boy collaborations with Skream, TC & Dam Funk in the pipeline. not bad for a 20 year old from Bristol.

some things from today.

walked past the 'God's Own Junkyard' exhibition being set up at the top of Carnaby Street. from what I understand its one guys hugeee collection of neon signs (apparently one of the biggest in the world) on display for one week only. looked pretty good. read more about it here.

cheeky iced coffee.

got some more cheapo dvds at fopp.

also picked up the Original Fake Spring/Summer 2010 catalogue at Dover Street Market. some of the new tee's are awesome. much better than last season.

pop life.

yesterday i had to do some filming around the Tate for a uni project i'm working on, so i thought while i was there it would be a good idea to check out the Pop Life exhibition one last time as it all comes to an end on monday. i was most excited about revisiting the replica Keith Haring Pop Shop and all the Murakami stuff, and it blew me away all over again. however, one of the things i was most curious about was what had been done about the Richard Prince Brooke Shields piece. if you don't remember, due to legal advice, the Tate pulled the controversial Richard Prince 'photograph of a photograph' featuring a 10 year old Brooke Shields posing naked in the bath the night before the exhibition was set to start.

read more about it about it here.

see the image here.

i was at the exhibition on the opening day, and the Richard Prince room of the exhibition had been sectioned off, and every single copy of the museum catalogue had been removed from the gift shop. upon returning yesterday, the Prince room was now open, however it featured a very different photograph of Brooke Shields taken much much later in the actresses life of her posing bikini-clad next to a motorcycle. bit of a cop out it you ask me - it should be all or nothin'.. however, much more to my surprise was that the catalogue was back on sale (at a very reasonable price might I add), so of course I had to have one. after much speculation of what they might of done, e.g. reprint the whole thing without the image, rip out every page with the image on etc. it turns out the Tate opted for the sticker option as you can see below.

i haven't tried removing it as i have a feeling that its one of those mean stickers whereby if you try to remove it, the whole page will go with it, and we definitely do not want that. still, quite an interesting end to quite an interesting story. peace.

burrrrr.

so Gucci Mane is back in prison - i saw this as the perfect opportunity to catch up on his ridiculously prolific output from 2009 - which to my knowledge is 6 mixtapes (including the three-in-one-day Cold War series) and one very good studio album The State VS Radric Davis. However, just when i thought i was safe - Diplo drops Free Gucci (The Best of the Cold War Mixtapes), an awesome compilation of Gucci remixes from the likes of Flying Lotus, Zomby, Brodinski and of course Diplo himself. available now for free download courtesy of Mad Decent. link here. enjoy.

thirst.

today i braved the icy roads to head into Leicester Square with TK to see the latest film from Korean master Park Chan Wook - Thirst (trailer here). The film, which we managed to catch at the wonderful Prince Charles Cinema, was amazing - a really fresh take on a the somewhat tired vampire story. stunning visuals, great performances and extremely dark humour - everything i've come to expect from Mr.Wook. it's films like this that are the reason why Korea really is running things in the asian cinema world these days. we then grabbed a bite to east at Misato and i picked up Chungking Express and some Woody Allen DVDs at fopp. here are some visuals for your pleasure:
